Language Technology
The Language Technology Program is a year-round program available by appointment or inquiry, that helps preserve and protect our community’s language and cultural history by digitizing older media such as photographs, audio recordings, video tapes, and other archival materials.
Community members receive a digital copy of their items for personal use, while a secure archival copy is retained by OKIB for preservation purposes. All archived materials are treated as confidential and are never shared publicly without permission.

Conversion of recordings to digital files

Our Language Technology team can digitize most common media formats, including photographs, tapes, recordings, and other archival materials. If you are unsure whether your materials can be digitized, please contact our Language & Culture team for assistance.
Yes. All original materials will be returned to you in the same condition in which they were received.
Yes. Digitized files are stored securely by the Language & Culture Department. Copies retained by OKIB for archival and preservation purposes are treated as confidential and are not shared publicly without permission.
